VOLUME 1 ISSUE 10
ON THE HILL
As I get ready to head back to the House of Commons and start work from my Ottawa office yet again, I want to take the time to reflect on my summer. For the past two months I have spent much of my time in the Saskatoon-Grasswood community, connecting with constituents, engaging with local organizations and learning a lot about the riding I represent in the House of Commons. As a new Member of Parliament, I have truly enjoyed experiencing Saskatoon-Grasswood and the many opportunities this position has allowed me to take part in.

From being reminded about what it means to be a Canadian at the various Canada Day celebrations I attended, meeting friendly faces at many seniors homes in the riding to share resources, learning from community stakeholders about big projects to better our community, visiting summer students across the riding, and meeting many constituents at my office.  It has been a great summer.

Thank you for making my first summer in the riding as an MP so memorable.  I look forward to representing you back in Ottawa this fall.

KEVIN'S PRIVATE MEMBERS' BILL, C-241
Private Member's Bill

As summer winds to a close, many of us begin to think of the new school year. This week kids will be back in the classroom.   I would like to remind you of my Private Members' Bill, C-241. If passed, this bill can positively impact schools all over the country.  Bill C-241 seeks to have the GST paid by school authorities refunded from the federal government at 100% instead of the current 68%.  This means more funds for schools across the country; funds that can improve the education of children across Canada.  In Saskatchewan alone this amounts to $8,480,043.76 more for our Saskatchewan classrooms!
To bring this bill to the attention of the government, please sign the petition, regarding this important issue, below:

The PotashCorp Fireworks festival runs from September 2nd to 3rd this year. The best place to be a part of the action is in Friendship Park and River Landing where you can find cultural displays, food vendors, kids activities, and of course have a great view of the fireworks. Note there will be some road closures and Rotary Park will be closed to the public.
