Clients and donors are inquiring more frequently about making gifts from and/or of an LLC. Gifts of business interests and gifts directly from business entities can be challenging but they tend to be large and rewarding too. We will discuss valuation, transferability, tax pitfalls and road blocks that can arise with such gifts. Issues of giving an LLC can be complex—especially when LLCs are operating businesses, have large amounts of debt, or are owned by multiple members—but many gifts involving LLCs are straightforward. You’ll learn to evaluate gifts involving LLCs and identify opportunities that may help both the donor and the charity.

Continuing education credits may be available pending application through the Oregon State Bar and CFP Board.

There is no charge for the meal and the program, but we would appreciate your RSVP by October 18th. You may register online here or by contacting BCF at 541-753-1603.
Scholarship season is here

This fall, BCF is awarding more than $230,000 in scholarships to 77 local students. They’ll be studying biology, forestry, nursing, pharmacy, engineering, criminal justice, military science, music, art, and business, among other fields, and we’re excited to support their endeavors.

Lauren is receiving $6,250 from the Knights of Pythias Scholarship, which provides funding for students attending vocational school. Lauren, who is pursuing an Associate Degree as a Veterinary Technician, wrote: “My love for animals has been constant in my life and getting to have my future career revolve around them and their health is a dream come true.”

We’re excited for Lauren, and we’re grateful to our donors for making these scholarships possible. If you would like to donate to an existing scholarship or are considering creating a scholarship fund, please contact Steven with any questions.

Thank you to our community fund donors

In May, BCF distributed more than $86,000 in community grants to local agencies. We were excited this year to fund Art in the Park, an art program for kids operated by the South Benton Community Enhancement Association. The kids made some thank you cards, and we wanted to pass along their gratitude to all of BCF’s supporters!
