Recognizing those who give back

Giving back happens in many ways. Some give at their places of worship; some give to friends’ social media fundraisers; many volunteer their time and energy to service groups and local charities. Acts of philanthropy are creative and ever-changing.

That’s one reason we hope you’ll join us November 15th for the inaugural Philanthropic Achievement Awards. At this luncheon you can learn about the innovative and exciting work being done by fundraisers, volunteer groups, businesses, and students to create a better future for our region.

More than $240,000 for Oregon students

For Oregon students, the first day of class marks the beginning of a semester of hard work. But they’ve also worked hard to get to this point: Benton County high school seniors began drafting their scholarship applications more than nine months ago, writing about their impressive accomplishments in high school and their ambitious goals for the future.

In May, the Benton Community Foundation notified more than 70 students that they would be receiving scholarships, from funds established by local donors. In the last three months, BCF has distributed more than $241,000 to local students. About 78% of those scholarship dollars are being applied at Oregon State University, and 9% are being applied at Linn-Benton Community College.

We are wishing all the best to our 2019 scholarship recipients. If you want to support one of these endowed scholarships, or want to start your own, contact our team!

Help the Corvallis Community Band keep sharing the joy of music
The Corvallis Community Band has been playing weekly summer concerts in Central Park since 1980, not to mention concerts in local schools and auditoriums throughout the year.

To ensure these performances continue for another forty years, the band is seeking your help. Two anonymous donors have generously offered to match gifts into the Corvallis Community Band Endowment Fund at the Benton Community Foundation. This means your contribution to the band will go twice as far, and last for many years into the future!

The first match gift of $10,000 was fulfilled earlier this fall, one month before the October deadline. The second match, for $25,000, needs your help. You can get involved by making a donation here – just choose "Existing Fund" then “Corvallis Community Band” from the drop-down menu.

You can also read more about the campaign at the band's website.
