The Benton Community Foundation is announcing a fundraising effort in partnership with area grantmakers and philanthropists to provide emergency grants to local nonprofits as they respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. BCF's COVID-19 Response Fund will support programs like emergency shelter, food boxes, child care, senior care, education for children who are out of school, and more.
Many local nonprofits are expanding their services to meet emerging needs, while also canceling their fundraising activities for the foreseeable future. BCF is encouraging community members to support the agencies they're passionate about by donating to those nonprofits directly. And for those who aren't sure where to help, consider making a donation to BCF's Response Fund. The Benton Community Foundation will review abridged grant requests and respond quickly to local needs.
• How do I contribute to the fund?
Donations can be made online. Please note that while BCF is waiving its administrative fees for this fund, credit card donations will be charged a processing fee of 3%. (This fee is charged by PayPal before the donation reaches BCF.) If you wish to avoid this fee, donations can also be made by check, payable to the Benton Community Foundation with "COVID-19 Response Fund" on the memo line and mailed to BCF at 660 NW Harrison Blvd., Corvallis, OR 97330. Contributions are tax-deductible.
• How does my organization apply for a grant?
Applications will be made available as soon as possible. Check in here for updates. The BCF application will follow the application being used by the United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties, and submitted applications will be shared between our agencies, so if you have already submitted their application, you will not need to do so again.
• How is this effort related to what other grantmakers are doing?
BCF is working with funding partners here in Benton County and throughout the Willamette Valley to coordinate our efforts, fill gaps, and address emerging needs as efficiently as possible. BCF recently announced a $50,000 matching grant to the United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties to boost their efforts, and will be continuing to work with other area foundations to meet the needs of our communities. Our grantmaking efforts will be closely aligned in order to streamline the process for applicants.
