"We shouldn't be fastidious about where great ideas come from." Alice Flaherty - The Midnight Disease

What is Doodle Art & Design Tips and Tricks?
It is a weekly, themed newsletter that compiles articles, tips and information to help you design a purposeful and satisfying life. My name is Kathleen Thometz and I am a writer, artist, and owner of Doodle Art & Design in Western Springs, IL.

This week's painting by Ria Hill inspired me to make a fairly yummy but pretty dessert I call, A Cup of Sky!

This Week's Theme: Creativity!
I've been researching a way to teach creativity and have discovered that the creative process doesn't need to be taught, just revealed. We are all inherently creative, and once you understand the process, you'll be able to easily access your creative brain. You will learn all about it in my Accessible Artist blog:

You Are Creative. Just Tap Into It! by Kathleen Thometz
When you learn to tap into your creativity you'll lead a richer and more productive life, both personally and professionally.

Book Pick: Rest-Why You Get More Done When You Work Less
by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang
I picked this book up at the library because I was curious about the title and the notion of work smart not hard. I was pleasantly surprised at how much this book was about fostering creativity, which is necessary to excel in all aspects of your life.
Helpful Hints!
Food Tip: If you want to make your expensive probiotic pills last longer, ferment them! I open a jar of Knudsen's Vegetable Juice, pour out 6 oz. so there is room for fermenting. Break open three probiotic pills, empty them into the juice, and put the lid back on. Let it sit on the counter until the lid puffs out. It is a refreshing, bubbly, good for you, drink! Before you finish the bottle, pour some of the fermented juice into a new jar and it will ferment in a day!

The glass on the right is the fermented juice.
Money-Saving Tip: Many women think nothing of buying used clothes at consignment shops. But what about men? Did you know that you can get new or nearly new Brooks Brother dress shirts on eBay for about $9?

This Week's Doodle Art Project:
Enchanted Forests!

Enchanted Forest by Tessa

It is amazing what you can do with a piece of wood or a plaque, some wooden knobs for feet, paint, sand, silk flowers, a drill, glue, and of course your imagination. Once you make your enchanted forest, get some Sculpey Polymer Clay and make some fantastic creatures to live there! Check out the Doodle Art & Design Enchanted Forest Pinterest page for ideas!
