Upcoming workshops and events
The Software Carpentry workshop will run Monday, Jan. 8 through Thursday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the WRF Data Science Studio. Preregistration was required for this event.

The postdocs and graduate students' lunch will be on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at noon in the Studio.

The Reproducibility and Open Science Working Group will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9 in the Studio from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Find the agenda on the events page.

The Python in Geosciences group will meet also meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Studio.

This week's Community Seminar will be in the Physics/Astronomy Auditorium, room A110, from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9Zachary Jones will speak on "Interpretable statistical learning methods".
Data Science for Social Good
Join Sarah Stone, co-executive director, for an informative session hosted by the UW Libraries, on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Allen Library, Research Commons, Green A. Student applications for our innovative Data Science for Social Good program will accepted starting Monday, Jan. 8.
Michael Beyeler, postdoctoral fellow, looks at the ten best features that the GitHub developer team has introduced this year on his blog "Ask a Swiss", ranging from new security alert notifications to the introduction of GitHub Classroom and more.
