Upcoming workshops and events
This week's Community Seminar will feature Xiaofeng Meng, who's seminar is titled 'Listen to the whisper from Earth.' It will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in the WRF Data Science Studio.

The postdoc and graduate student lunch will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 12 p.m. in the WRF Data Science Studio.

The Studio will close early at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and will remain closed until Monday, Nov. 28, in honor of Thanksgiving.


Save the date: The next Data Science Seminar will feature Klaus-Robert Müller on 'Machine learning meets quantum chemistry,' Friday, Dec. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in Gowen Hall, room 301.
Recent happenings
Above, participants dive deep into data at this week's Geohackweek, coordinated by Anthony Arendt, eScience senior fellow. The conference ran Nov. 14 - 18, and featured workshops, talks and group activities on geospatial data science.

This week's Community Seminar was a success, featuring Erick Mattsen on 'Phylogenetics for modern data sets, from the ground up.' The full house event was coordinated by Dave Beck, senior data science fellow.

Ed Lazowska was quoted on startup culture in Seattle Business Magazine.
