Call for proposals
The eScience Institute, in collaboration with Urban@UW and Microsoft, is excited to announce a call for proposals for the 2017 Data Science for Social Good summer program. The program brings together data and domain scientists to work on collaborative projects that are designed to impact public policy for social benefit.

eScience Data Science Fellow Rob Fatland is featured in a story on the UW Information Technology website. Fatland helped a graduate student to better process his genome sequencing data.
In the Studio
We recently held our annual holiday office party, where fun, nog, chocolate and a Star Wars Death Star waffle iron all made appearances.

Data Science Fellow Ariel Rokem has two publications out: "Popeye: A population receptive field estimation tool" and a pre-print on "The interaction of orientation-specific surround suppression and visual-spatial attention."
Allison Smith, postdoctoral fellow, published the blog post "Discovering the data science community, becoming part of it, and expanding it."

The WRF Data Science Studio will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 23, Dec. 26and Jan. 2. Check our Google calendar page for updates on our data scientists' office hours.
