The WRF Data Science Studio will be closed on July 4 for Independence Day. 

All are invited to attend the weekly happy hour for the Data Science for Social Good fellows, held Thursday, July 6 at 4 p.m. in the Studio.

UW Medicine
Nick Reder, 2017 Winter Incubator researcher who worked with data scientist Ariel Rokem has co-developed a new microscope which allows pathologists to scan cancer biopsies in 3-D. Learn more in Engadget, Popular Science and Futurity.

Jevin West, data science fellow, and Carl Bergstrom's course Calling BS was featured in NY Magazine's article "A beginner's guide to calling BS".

The online restaurant reservation work of Elaine Nsoesie, former DSSG project lead, was referenced in Slate's "Scientists’ silly, dark, and sometimes inappropriate humor".

Husky Seed Fund Award
A team of data scientists has won a Husky Seed Fund Award to develop the UW OpenSidewalks project, which will help to make the Seattle campus more accessible.
AI award
Four of the 2017 eScience Institute's Data Science for Social Good fellows took first place in the Seattle Global AI Hackathon.
Astronomy
Andrew Connolly, senior data science fellow, and Željko Ivezić, eScience affiliate, had their work featured in The Seattle Times article "By teaching computers to track asteroids, UW scientists may save the Earth".

Michael Beyeler, postdoctoral fellow, has a new book which is available for pre-order on Packtpub.com.
