Upcoming workshops and events
Midterm presentations for the 2017 Winter Incubator program will be held in the WRF Data Science Studio on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The eScience Executive Committee will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Studio.

The postdocs and grad students' lunch will be at noon on Thursday and will feature Serena Liu.

Also on Thursday, the Software Journal Club will meet in the Studio from 3 to 4 p.m.

This week's Community Seminar will be on the "Promise and perils of data science in the wild". Featuring speakers Anissa Tanweer and Brittany Fiore-Gartland, the seminar will be in Architecture Hall, room 147, at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Save the date: Kelsey Jordahl, Mosaics team lead at Planet Labs, will present a seminar on "Mosaicking the Earth every day" on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 3:30 p.m. in Johnson Hall, room 102.
Poster session
Register now to present a poster on Feb. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Mary Gates Commons. Prizes, networking opportunities, poster printing costs and refreshments provided. All are welcome to attend to connect with others engaged in data-intensive discovery.

AccessMap, a new pedestrian navigation tool which was developed in part through our Data Science for Social Good program, was covered in articles by Seeker and the Daily Journal of Commerce.

Fellow Mark Hallenbeck was quoted in The Seattle Times this week, in their article "The I-405 toll-lane experiment: How’s it working for drivers, and the state?".
