Upcoming workshops and events
There will be an eScience data and research scientists meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the WRF Data Science Studio.

The postdocs and graduate students lunch will be on Thursday, Mar. 21, from noon to 1 p.m. in the studio. This will be an end-of-quarter social event.

The Reproducible Science and Open Source Software Special Interest Group will meet in the studio on Friday, Mar. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Winter Incubator
Learn the results of the ten-week intensive 2019 Winter Incubator research projects on Thursday, Mar. 21, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the studio. A reception will follow, and all are invited to attend. Find the presentation schedule on our website.
Data Science for Social Good
Our Data Science for Social Good program has made headlines in a variety of news and media outlets over the last several years. We've compiled a list of project coverage and are now featuring these pieces on our website. Joseph Hellerstein, senior data science fellow, is the co-author on an article published by F1000Research titled "Recent advances in biomedical simulations: a manifesto for model engineering."

Stuart Geiger's recent Data Science Seminar on “Documenting data science and documentation in data science: an ethnographic exploration” is highlighted in a piece on the Berkeley Center for New Media website.

The work of Jevin West, data science fellow, is featured in the King 5 News piece "UW professors create website to test your ability to spot fake photos."

In memoriam
We were saddened to learn of the loss of eScience affiliate and innovator Vikram Jandhyala, who passed away earlier this week. Our deepest condolences extend to his family, friends, and the community he was a part of.
Sally Jewell, former U.S. Secretary of the Interior, will speak at the Waterhackweek Community Mixer happening Thursday, Mar. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Intellectual House. RSVP now to attend this exciting complimentary opportunity.
