Friday 22nd May marks World Pre-eclampsia day 2020, #CheckKnowShare.
Lots of exciting things have been happening this week to mark the occasion. Read on to find out how you can get involved!
We hope all our friends, colleagues and supporters are well, special thanks to our wonderful NHS colleagues.

The APEC team continue to work from home and our helpline and email/online support is still open to anyone in need of advice or support. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you need us.
Make a donation towards APEC's work
  • The goal of this year’s campaign is to make sure that women understand the importance of blood pressure in their pregnancy and postpartum period - know how to check their blood pressure, know their numbers, and share with their midwife and care team. #CheckKnowShare
  • Pre-eclampsia has not gone away, women need to continue to attend their ante-natal appointments and to know the symptoms of pre-eclampsia.

Episode 7 – Pre-eclampsia was live on 20 May at 7pm but you can still watch it!

APEC Chair of Trustees Professor Andrew Shennan  has prepared some information on the impact of the coronavirus on pregnant women.

We hope it may help to answer some of your questions and give some reassurance.

This Scientific Meeting to be held on World Pre-eclampsia day is a gathering of experts on Pre-eclampsia from Ghana, the West African Sub-Region and worldwide.

The aim is to discuss and share ground breaking ideas on Pre-eclampsia, it's Scientific, Economic and Social impact on families and survivors and discuss the way forward in dealing with this pregnancy disorder.

We are delighted to tell you Marcus Green, CEO APEC will be speaking in the morning session.

The new website is part of a recently completed research study exploring the experiences of different women and their families affected by pre-eclampsia.

The website aims to provide accurate, accessible, and relevant information
aiming to improve patient, public, and professional understanding of
pre-eclampsia. Many experiences are explored, including diagnosis, labour/
childbirth, and future health following pre-eclampsia.

 Home Blood Pressure Monitoring in Pregnancy 
A Webinar on 22 May 9-10

APEC colleague Asma Khalil  is presenting her webinar for World Pre-eclampsia Day .The event topics include:
  • Practical aspects of clinical implementation of Home Blood Pressure Monitoring in Pregnancy
  • Management of antihypertensive therapy
  • Management of pregnancy during COVID-19.
