Edward Gauden, CEO of Foodbank Tasmania, receiving a cheque from President David Reed and Committee Member Mohammad Aldergham, at the February AGM held at Wrest Point.
Last November, the SKAL International Hobart luncheon was held at Foodbank Warehouse in Derwent Park, to show support to an organisation that help and support community organisations throughout Tasmania. The day was deemed a success by all attendees thanks to the generosity of our members, most notably our own Waji Spiby, Tom Ellis, Tom McDevitt and the support of HypeTV, TasTAFE, 911 Bottle Shops who made the event the success it was. Edward Gauden, the Chair and CEO for Foodbank of Tasmania, received the cheque during our February luncheon held at Wrest Point. “Thanks to generosity of SKAL International Hobart members and interest in what we do, the $3500 donation was used to purchase enough breakfast cereal for almost 5000 meals and will be served through Foodbank of Tasmania’s School Breakfast Program. This program reaches 90+ schools throughout Tasmania” Mr Gauden said. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive about this event, that the committee is currently discussing putting it back on this year’s calendar which will be towards the end of the year…stay tuned!
