As this year comes to an end, let’s take a look at ANBU’s first year and what we have accomplished so far! The pie charts share where Anbu received funds from and how the funds were used. As you can see, our donors have made a huge impact. Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to provide continued support to individuals impacted by childhood sexual abuse within the Tamil community!

Anbu has offered a variety of services and programs over the past year. All of Anbu’s services are free and made possible by our donors! On behalf of all of us at Anbu, thank you all for your generosity and support!

As we turn the page on the past year, we look forward to what the next year has in store. With your contributions, Anbu can continue to provide free services to survivors of childhood sexual abuse, education, research and outreach. Donation information can be found on our website!

This event is in partnership with OCASI ( http://www.ocasi.org/ ) and the intention is to raise awareness on sexual violence and domestic violence. We want to give artists in our community the opportunity to come together in one room and display their expression of what is and what has been happening around us every day. The depressing reality of sexual violence is slowly coming to light as silenced voices are rising and it is no doubt a revolutionary moment in our lives... but it is also bound to bring on a rush of emotions, triggering our own memories and experiences. Regardless of how we are impacted, our truth is that we are impacted by the stories that are shared and the voices that are not shared. We want to honour our community's trauma and want you to release what is happening inside of you through your artistic expression, whatever that might be.
In December ANBU UK launched a series of 4x ANBU Shorts videos on our social media platforms to complement the wonderful fuller length videos series from the ANBU Canada team. These are short 1 minute videos which contain actionable bursts of information to support survivors and the wider community in navigating the impact of childhood sexual abuse, delivered by ANBU UK volunteers:
ANBU Shorts #1 Disclosure
5 steps to think about if you are considering disclosure
ANBU Shorts #2 Supporting a survivor disclosing - the do’s

We are in the process of planning more videos and welcome any feedback on these. Also, if you have topics you wold like us to explore please do get in touch: anbu.org.uk@gmail.com

Also in December, we created a chatroom for survivors to connect and support one another over the Christmas period. Every survivors experience is different, the celebration of family and togetherness is everywhere this time of year, but for many, it can be an emotionally challenging period with family estrangements, returning to home environments where abuse occurred and the possibility of encountering perpetrators. The chatroom is a safe and confidential space for survivors to support each other over this period (intended for peer to peer support and not a substitute for professional or crisis support). There will be one more date remaining for the chatroom on Sunday 7th Jan 18:00 - 19:00 (UK) females only. Please do get in touch if this is of interest to you.

It been a unbelievable year for us in the UK, we cannot wait to share with you our plans for 2018 including the launch of our website soon!
Wishing you a peaceful and joyful year ahead.
