See how 2018 has unfolded for ANBU
First Quarter of 2018
It's been a while since you've heard from us! We've made the shift to quarterly newsletters, where we can connect with you wonderful folks and show you what we've been up to, without overwhelming your inboxes :)

So far, 2018 has not disappointed. From connecting with partners at public events to hosting an incredible line up of artists of many forms, ANBU is off to a great start!
A BIG thank you to all of our artists for sharing their work! For more pictures of this event, click here
"It was humbling to be surrounded by so many creatives and so many stories. Moments like these remind me of the importance of having such spaces to be able to have these much-needed conversations, whether it is through dialogue or through art."
"THANK YOU to the ANBU team for co-ordinating such an uplifting event.....the type of which I have never been to in our Thamizh community, especially considering the mission of the organization. It was an honour to be a part of it."
TDSB Tamil Heritage Month

The Toronto District School Board celebrated the month with a special gathering of their own. This year's theme was "Pillars of our Past; Shaping the Path Ahead". ANBU had an opportunity to speak to students, teachers, principals and other community members about ANBU’s work in the Tamil community and how we can provide education and support in partnership with the Toronto District School Board.
Oli: Light through the Broken Pieces

On March 10th, ANBU hosted a number of incredible Tamil artists for a night of expression, connection and healing.

The community was brought together to bask in resilience. Visual art, dance, spoken word and musical performances displayed the strength of the human spirit in the face of violence and oppression.
City of Toronto Tamil Heritage Month Reception

ANBU attended a reception at Toronto City Hall in honour of Tamil Heritage Month celebrating Tamil Culture and the achievements of Tamil Canadians. Photographs of Tamil Canadian achievements from across Canada were documented and ANBU was honoured to be featured in the showcase.

Photographs of ANBU's Video Launch and Community Gathering were displayed at City Hall as a part of Tamil Canadian history
CTCC Celebrates Women's Day

ANBU attended CTCC's first Women's Day Celebration. This year marks the first time a female president has been elected by the CTCC membership. We had an opportunity to network and celebrate the achievements of women in our community.

ANBU had the opportunity to participate in Adayaalam, hosted by the University of Toronto St. George Campus Tamil Students' Association.

This year’s focus was on the Tamil Diaspora and ANBU joined other Tamil community members on a panel to discuss first-generation Canadian experiences of war, displacement, hardships and achievements.
The month of Chithirai is just around the corner! We at ANBU wish everyone the very best for this upcoming year. We hope it fills with happiness, peace and prosperity, however you choose to manifest them.
If you are a survivor or the loved one of someone that has been impacted by childhood sexual abuse and want support, give us a shout! If you want to share your story, send us a message and we would love to amplify your voice. Anonymous entries of all sorts are welcomed too.
