Volunteer Hints
Please pay attention to the length of your recordings as each program has a target length. If you are not sure of the target for your program, check the guideline, the spreadsheet (with the tiny print) posted on the cork board over the black cabinet, or please ask.
The issues we have seen recently include:
- People pressing the Record button before they are ready to record. That will leave silence (or settling-in noises) at the beginning of the recording which when edited out will shorten your program content;
- People leaving gaps during the recording as they forget to pause while taking a break or while preparing the next article;
- People stopping early--just not filling the required time.
Note for Book Readers: The last episode of a book must be 58 minutes just like the other episodes. Please prepare material to fill that last hour. It can be information about the author or about the subject of the book. It can also be a short story by the author. If you are having trouble finding material, please let Cheryl or Jane know.
Note to Recorded News Readers: If you find that you have worked through the guideline, and the last section does not have enough material, don't just stop. Say something like "We have time for one more news (or sports, or living) article" and then fill out the remaining time.
