European SMEs go international with INNOWWIDE

A very warm welcome to INNOWWIDE's third newsletter.
In this issue, we are glad to announce the 50 winners of the first INNOWWIDE call for VAPs who received a total of €3m in EU funding. Discover them all!

We will then propose you a selection of news and events items from our website and social media, and we will give you a quick overview about our services available to INNOWWIDE calls' applicants.

The 50 winners of the 1st INNOWWIDE Call for VAPs have been selected for a total of €3m in EU fundings. Discover them all!

50 Viability Assessment Projects (VAPs) have been selected for funding in INNOWWIDE’s 1st Call for VAPs, from a total of 379 applications from 35 EU and associated countries .
A list with the granted projects from the 1st VAP Call is available here for consultation.

Each six-month project will receive €60,000 in funding for innovative collaborations between SMEs from EU and associated countries alongside local partners in target countries.

Some highlights about the selected projects:
  • The target country with highest number of grants awarded was the USA, with 13 of the 50 funded VAPs. Besides the USA, awards were spread among 21 countries worldwide, from every continent.
  • The home country with the highest number of granted VAPs was Spain, a total of 20 project applicants.
  • Regarding the target countries’ categories, there was a balanced distribution between developed countries and developing countries, with 19 projects awarded to each category. The remaining 12 projects will take place in the group of emerging economies.
  • The majority of the projects that succeeded were focused on developing technologies in the area of electronics, IT and telecoms.
  • Energy, Agriculture and Environment are the most targeted market sectors in this call.

WEBINAR | 11 December 2019 > “ICT for Agrifood: EU funding for R&D Agrotech projects led by SMES”.
Organised by the TRACK project, the webinar will present European calls focussing on funding opportunities for SMEs in the agrotech sector. Our colleague Rocío de la Rosa (Business Development Consultant at Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía - INNOWWIDE partner) will present the INNOWWIDE funding scheme. The webinar will be held in English.

INNOWWIDE presented at MedaWeek Barcelona
Fundación Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía - CTA (INNOWWIDE project partner), represented by their Communication Officer Marisol Castro, participated on November 20th 2019 in the New Africa Business Development Forum framed in the International Congress MedaWeek Barcelona 2019, to present the INNOWWIDE second call for projects, that will be launched in the beginning of 2020.

The MedaWeek Barcelona (Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders) is nowadays an iconic conference dedicated to promoting the Mediterranean region worldwide. This event endorsed the key economic sectors and the cultural values of the region through a wide variety of forums. For additional information, please click here.
INNOWWIDE infoday at EBN Congress 2019

Rome (Italy), 23-25 October 2019. INNOWWIDE was at European BIC Network Annual Congress to run two workshops presenting the INNOWWIDE funding scheme and meet several entrepreneurs and incubators at the project booth. 

Together with us our partner networks Enrich in Brazil, ENRICH in ChinaEnrich in the USA who presented available opportunities and relevant partners in Brazil, China and the USA.

ENRICH is a global network of centres and hubs that promotes the internationalisation of European science, technology and innovation. Promoted by the European Commission through Horizon 2020, the ENRICH network currently offers services to connect European research, technology and business organisations with three global frontrunner innovation markets: Brazil, China and the USA.
INNOWWIDE infoday in Karlsruhe "Should I internationalise? And how?"
Karlsruhe (Germany), 31st October 2019. INNOWWIDE partner Steinbeis 2i GmbH hosted an event designed to encourage and inspire SMEs and startups to grow their companies globally.

With expert speakers from across the region and globally, this event discussed the barriers and benefits to expanding into international markets, as well as giving tips and practical advice on how to do so.

During the infoday participants had the opportunity to hear from some of the INNOWWIDE winners about their projects and how they approached this opportunity, developing a winning proposal.
INNOWWIDE talks🎞️ - Faith Blakemore presents the project and the calls for VAPs in conversation with CyberForum 

Our colleague Faith Blakemore, from Steinbeis (INNOWWIDE project partner), gave a short interview to CyberForum, a non-profit organization that supports businesses from the IT and high-tech industry, located in Karlsruhe, Germany.
