Turkey Trot Checklist:
  • Turkey Trot shirts will be on students' desks Friday morning
  • Students should wear shoes that they can run in - no boots, flip flops
  • Students can wear red, white and blue accents -it's Veterans Day!
  • Students should bring water bottles to quench their thirst during the run
  • Students should wear sunscreen - it looks like Friday will be a beautiful day!
  • School-wide picture will be taken at 9:15 am in the bus loop
  • Parents are welcome to cheer on their child while they run!  Here is the Running Schedule for every grade
  • Keep collecting pledges/donations!
The Turkey Trot is our biggest fundraiser of the year!  Our goal is to raise $40,000 for Blue Mountain to fund 4 paraprofessionals, fields trips, technology, teacher requests, special events and to promote physical activity.  Turkey Trot Fundraiser Instructions Form and Turkey Trot Pledge Form. went home in Thursday Folders on October 20. We also need lots of help to put on a successful event.  Please signup below to help us on November 10 (setup) and November 11 (day of). WE REALLY NEED HELP FOR THE SETUP OF THE TURKEY TROT ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10 AT 3:30 - JUST 45 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME!  Please contact the Turkey Trot chair, Martha Walkerif you have any questions. BMES Student Council is sponsoring a Turkey Trot Spirit Week! 
Monday 11/7 - Wear your Blue Mountain gear or school colors 
Tuesday 11/8 - Wear your favorite red, white and blue (perfect on election day!)
Wednesday 11/9 - Make signs/ posters/ songs/ dances/ etc... to use at the Turkey Trot
Thursday 11/10 - Wear your old Turkey Trot t-shirt
 Friday 11/11 - TURKEY TROT! Wear your new turkey trot shirt and your favorite red, white, and blue accents. 
We are having our 2016 Turkey Trot on Veterans Day - November 11. We would like to honor veterans that we know by having students fill out a star. All of the stars will be placed on the Wall of Honor in the school library. Please stop by to see the Wall of Honor! If you need additional stars, please print out the template below.  Please return completed stars to classroom teachers.

Our students will be participating in the Saluting America Program THIS WEEK! Our librarian, Michelle Soriano, will be reading a book on veterans to each of her classes.  All of the students will be given a Tribute Card to write a personal message to either a veteran, deployed troop member, or wounded warrior. These letters will be sent to Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that sends over 150,000 care packages to veterans and U.S. service members. In each care package, they include several cards written by adults and children in the U.S.  For more information on these organizations, please see their websites at and
