Traditional Sexuality, Radical Community: The debates about sexuality are endless, even in the church. As a Christian who is gay and celibate, author and assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Trinity School of of Ministry, Wesley Hill has been on the front lines of many of these debates. In this half-day forum, Wesley will explain why the historic Christian sexual ethic still holds even in our current context, but will also explain how this ethic can actually be lived through the power of Christian community and spiritual friendship. This free event will take place on Saturday, April 1st, 9am to noon, at Third Church (600 Forest Avenue). For more details, please visit Third's website.
Meet & Greet on Sunday: All are invited to enjoy us out on the portico (weather permitting) immediately after Sunday's service for our monthly Meet & Greet. Nothing formal–just a chance to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
Session Meeting: City Church's elders will meet Sunday evening. If you have any questions, concerns, or prayer requests you'd like addressed by the session, please contact Erik (email@example.com).

Men's Softball Team Sign-Ups: Gentleman, if you weren't aware, City Church has a softball team! This is a great opportunity for fellowship and it's also a chance to build relationships with members of other local churches. Games will be played at night on Monday nights starting on April 17th and will last until mid-June. No athletic prowess necessary, though it is encouraged. League entry fee is $45 dollars. If you are interested or would like more information you can email Josh Barefoot at firstname.lastname@example.org. Note: Please respond by April 3rd if you are interested.
Good Friday Service: Join us at 7pm on April 14th at Grace Covenant for a Good Friday Service. The Good Friday service is a somber service of Lessons and Songs to help us mark the Passion of Jesus Christ our Lord. This service will be held in partnership with Grace Community Presbyterian Church.
Easter Event: All are invited to join us on Saturday, April 15th, 4pm to 7pm at the Stone House in Forest Hill Park (4021 Forest Hill Avenue) for our annual Easter celebration. This is a wonderful family-friendly (but NOT family-only) event that we look forward to each year. It's great way to introduce friends and family to the City Church community, so please bring guests along with you! Here's a PDF invite that you are welcome to pass along. The bounce house will open at 4; our egg hunt starts at 4:30; and dinner is at 5. City Church will provide the main dish, so please bring a side dish or dessert to share. We look forward to seeing you!
Men's Overnight: Gentlemen, save the date for this year's men's overnight: Saturday April 22nd through Sunday, April 23rd at Chanco on the James (about an hour from Richmond). Registration is $40 for tents or bunkhouse beds and $60 for interior double occupancy rooms. Dinner and breakfast are included. Registration information coming soon!
Decision Making and God's Will: Our next Christian Formation class is entitled Decision Making and God's Will. Over three sessions (May 12th, 19th, and 26th) we'll explore what it means to pray about and seek out God's will in the decisions we make throughout all of the seasons of our lives. Classes meet from 5:45-6:30pm in room 303. A light dinner is provided. Childcare is available upon request; please send childcare requests to Val Catrow (email@example.com) by noon the Thursday before the class meets. To RSVP to the course itself–or to get more information–contact Joshua Earman (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Serving Our Community
Good Friday Blood Drive–Volunteers Needed! City Church will partner with Grace Covenant and other churches in Stuart Circle to host a blood drive on Good Friday (April 14th) from 9am to 3pm. The blood drive will take place in the Fellowship Hall of Grace Covenant. To sign up to donate, please visit redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code GOODFRIDAY. We are in need of a few volunteers to represent City Church at the blood drive. If you're interested in helping, please contact Mary Conkright at email@example.com.
Mercy Fund Liaisons: We would love to add two or three (or more!) people to our Mercy Fund team. The Mercy Fund is a special offering taken up once a month that we then use to provide emergency financial assistance to people in our congregation and community. Mercy Fund liaisons serve as points of contact for those seeking assistance and the church's broader diaconate. To learn more about serving City Church and the Richmond community in this way, please contact David Perks (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Candy Donations Needed! We are in need of candy donations for our Easter event on April 15th. Please bring a bag of wrapped candy to the City Church office by April 9th if you're able to donate!
