Families,

Welcome to the December issue of the Hendricks Herald. It’s hard to believe that the Holidays are among us plus we are halfway into the school year.

During November, our Cultural Arts Committee whisked the students away to Brazil for the week. Cultural Arts week was filled with activities such as Samba Lessons, live Bossa Nova and Samba Music, Olympic Events and best of all the Carnivale Parade. Thank you to the Cultural Arts Committee consisting of Kathy Hartland, Megan Schutte, Paige Johnston and Mary Jane Hewes for planning this fun filled week.

Next on the PTA Calendar are cookies & cocoa provided for the kids and faculty on Readathon/Pajama Day, December 22nd. What a fun way to head into the long Christmas/winter break!

As always thank you for volunteering and supporting the Hendricks Avenue PTA.

Happy Holidays,

Francine Shell
HAE PTA President

LIBRARY NEWS

Make sure to check out the HAE Library website to see what our students are doing in the media center. Their enthusiasm for reading is amazing!

Once upon a time, there was a librarian who spent her days enjoying books and the magic places her students went when they read them. She loved libraries so much that when the king asked her to rule over another one…what could she say?

She entered the new library and gasped! The room was a mess, the shelves were covered in dust and the books were in no order at all. Sadness filled her heart as she realized that it would be a long time before her new students could enjoy all that the library had to offer. The job was too much for one small librarian to finish in a timely manner. She wished on a star that there was a way to make this new library as wonderful as her other one.

Suddenly, her wish was granted. A few  wonderful and kind-hearted fairy god moms heard her plea and came to the rescue. They waved their magic wands, sweated a lot, and went home covered in dirt…but the task was complete. Two school libraries in the kingdom are pristine. Over 1000 children are now enjoying the wonder of books and warming the heart of one little librarian.

Thank you to Leslie, Jane Courtney, Traci C. Tracey M, Robin, Dana, Libby, and Kristen W. Hendricks is lucky to have such dedicated, selfless and energetic moms!

You can find magic, wherever you look. Sit back and relax,
all you need is a book!
