FRIDAY FAITH ON FILM
THE BLACK CHURCH:
THIS IS OUR STORY. THIS IS OUR SONG.
HOSTED BY HENRY LOUIS GATES JR.

We continue on Friday evenings on 12,19, and 26 March beginning at 6:30  as we watch this mini-series and discuss each segment.   We will use the Zoom meeting information for our worship service found above.

Please find the following message from Fr. Jeff Stevenson from St. Ann's Sayville regarding their Lenten Program. We will not be praying Evening Prayer on these Wednesdays, instead I ask that we enter into this opportunity to engage our faith with the our friends at St. Ann's.

6:00 PM / Wednesdays in Lent
We continue Wednesdays in Lent—March 17, and 24, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM for our traditional Soup Supper & Bible Study program. The soup part starts at 6:00, with the Bible study immediately following at about 6:30. The Zoom link is the same one for the coffee hour on Sundays after the10:00am service.

For each of the four weeks, one of our Soup Makers will volunteer as the Master Chef du Jour and, while we are enjoying our home-made version of his specialty, the chef will do a Zoom demonstration of their Master Recipe.  For the program this year, Father Jeff will be speaking on the Rite of Reconciliation of the Penitent, better known as Confession.
Blessings,

Fr. Jeff Stevenson, HoSM
Rector
Beloved in Christ,

Grace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.   A little more than a year ago, we began to hear rumblings of COVID-19.  We had no idea that we would be impacted directly by something so small and invisible that seemed to be happening so far away.  We have weathered the shutdown, reopening, temporary shutdown, and find the new hope of the vaccine that will protect us in the days to come.

We were able to continue our ministry during COVID, and in many ways expand. We have a faithful group that not only gathers in person, but also online via Zoom.  We engage in worship on Sundays, and pray Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings, partake in Bible Study using online platforms, and have a seen amazing connections in our community with the Essential Items Drives that benefit our most vulnerable neighbors.

While we have much to be thankful for and to celebrate, we write to you because we still need your help.  Just as every family, organization, or group has a budget, we too at St. James have financial obligations that need to be met.  We are required by canon to report this information to our diocese and on the Parochial Report submitted to the Episcopal Church. Your continued support is needed to ensure our ability to faithfully serve our community.  Please click on the link below to fill out the attached Statement of Intention for the 2021 year.

Every blessing we have comes from God.  By sharing our time, talent, and treasure, we say Thank you in a tangible and thoughtful way.  Thank you  for your continued support of our ministry.

Thank you for your continued support of our monthly Essential Items Drive.  The community turnout was steady on a cold, snowy day.  45 cars dropped in to help our neighbors in need. The next one will be on 20 March.

As we prepare for Holy Week, it is important to remember that we are still in our COVID safety protocol.  On these Holy Days, we usually have visitors.  To ensure we are adequately prepared for the Sunday services, you are asked to kindly register in advance.
