Newsletter 02 - March 2016

With the its4land kick-off meeting done and dusted, it's time to get down to business. First up - Get Needs. Over the next few months its4land and collaborators will conduct mini-kick-off events in each of the three focus countries - Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Kenya - as part of Work Package 2

KU Leuven assumes command. Work Package 2 is the central work package in the first 6 months of the project. It's called 'Get Needs' and is all about doing just that: understanding and compiling the land tenure recording needs of the different layers of stakeholders in the its4land project. KUL, public administration specialists, have a bunch of nifty tools they use to help them do this work - and they'll be making use of all our linkages in the partner countries. Learn more here
More than 25 academics and professional staff are working on its4land
its4land information infrastructure.
Managing a project like its4land is no small feat. We'll be creating lots of spatial data, social data, and technology prototypes. We also need to interact with ourselves - and all our stakeholders. We also need to be keeping our donors the EC up-to-date with deliverables and milestones. All the above needs to be done in an ethical way - whilst adhering to the EU's desire for open data and open research. To achieve all the above, we're building the its4land information infrastructure -
Work Package 2 is our key focus for the first 6 months
its4land MT all set.  Our Management Team is now agreed upon. It consists of one member from each of the project partners. We''ll be meeting every 6 weeks to make sure the project is on track - and all work packages are interacting properly. Our first meeting was actually on February 25 - a day before the kick-off. The MT members include: Rohan Bennett, Joep Crompvoets, Angela Schwering, Tarek Zein, Gordon Wayumba, Kaspar Kundert, and Mireille Biraro. Meanwhile, you can see the extended list of project partners here.
The infrastructure will link partners, stakeholders, and the EC to data, tools, deliverables, and communications tools
