Newsletter 11 - December 2016
Much of December 2016 was spent planning for January 2017 fieldwork in Rwanda by WP2 'Get Needs' - to be followed by similar efforts in Kenya and Ethiopia - where WWU Muenster's WP3 'Draw and Make' will join in. Meanwhile, for WP4 'Fly and Create', UAVs arrived at UT in Enschede, Netherlands - and alongside INES Ruhengeri and esri Rwanda efforts continued to move through the registration and licensing in Rwanda. Pilot training for Ethiopian and Kenyan staff from Bahir Dar University and Technical University of Kenya was also organised for January 2017. Finally, WP5 'Automate It' trialled an alternate machine-learning technique in the search for improved extraction of visual boundaries from imagery. Read on to learn more.
