'Twas the Night Before Christmas: American Christmas Traditions
Co-hosted by Nesmith Library and the Windham Historical Society

Wednesday, December 16, 6 PM [Virtual]
Registration Required
For adults ages 18 & up (There will be Santa spoilers!)

Traditions are a special part of Christmas, but have you ever wondered where our American traditions originated? Why do we kiss under the mistletoe, and why are poinsettias associated with this holiday? On Wednesday, December 16 at 6 PM, discover the answers to these questions, along with the fascinating real-life story of The Night Before Christmas (A Visit From St. Nicholas,) when we welcome Martina Mathisen to bring our shared history to life. Martina, in full period costume, will also entertain us with facts about some of our other American Christmas traditions, including where did the jolly old man in the red suit come from, anyway?
