Dear LEAD Supporter,
Despite our physical distance as we work from home, our team has been hard at work planning for the coming year. As we wrap up our virtual planning sessions, we are excited and hopeful to see what this school year has in store for LEAD and our girls. It is safe to say that this year has been unexpected and challenging and will continue to put strain and anxiety on our girls. Therefore, our team has worked over the last month to plan for all obstacles and prepare for the new academic year under multiple contingency plans.
It is uncertain what this school year will look like. Our girls may have to make the adjustment to in person school again, or they may continue their online learning from home; however, we are committed to supporting our girls either way and finding innovative and creative ways to help emerge from this as stronger LEADers. We have taken the time to listen to our girls and hear their feedback and suggestions. Every week as a team we have brainstormed new ways to support them virtually and establish the camaraderie between girls that they cherish, even if they cannot be in the same physical space. That is why the focus of our sessions for the upcoming academic year is Mind, Body, and Spirit.
As a country and community, we have seen first hand over the last few months how important it is to take care of our bodies. Our girls have now lived through a traumatic health crisis which has shaken us all. Therefore, it is important to educate and inspire them to take responsibility for their wellness journey.
However, wellness does not begin and end with physical health. Mental and spiritual health play an ever important role in the well-being of our girls. After facing uncertainty, stress, and trauma, we think it has never been so important to help our girls learn about self care, coping with stress, and overcoming hard times. We want our girls to be confident, and self assured. We want their love and respect for themselves to be unwavering no matter the circumstances. These are skills that we believe will not just carry them through the school year but for the rest of their lives as young leaders.
I hope that you will consider donating to LEAD, as an investment in our girls. This is an important year to make an impact on our girls and in this community. Thank you for your past and future support. It takes a village.
