BCCAT Updates for our Partners
December 2018

Happy Holidays from BCCAT!

We at BCCAT would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals across BC Transfer System institutions who work tirelessly every day to enable and expand access and mobility for BC students.
The BC Transfer System is well known for its flexibility and reliability, and that is largely because of you! We offer our very best wishes as you celebrate the holidays, and we look forward to working with you in 2019!

The Hairstylist
Articulation Committee

The Hairstylist Articulation Committee was formed in 2015 and approved by the Transfer and Articulation Committee (TAC) in May of that year.
Since its inauguration, inspired by the enthusiastic and dedicated leadership of Chair, Sally Vinden (pictured) from Vancouver Island University, the committee membership has more than tripled.

One of the primary goals of the committee was to facilitate the re-regulation of the profession and to move to the Red Seal certification program. ITA representatives regularly attended the twice-yearly meetings and provided information on on-boarding and harmonization of trades (e.g. sequence of training, training tools and number of hours).

This inspirational committee has been particularly pro-active in reaching out to the professional community to educate potential apprentice sponsors (employers) and to create successful training, certification and employment opportunities for students in the province. For more information about articulation in BC, click here.

Save the Date

for JAM 2019!

Now's the time to save the date for next year's JAM! So mark your calendars for Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront. Next year's JAM will be particularly special as BCCAT celebrates 30 years since it was established with the mandate to facilitate the BC Transfer System. Stay tuned for more info as plans unfold! Check the BCCAT website for further details in the coming months.
The 2018 Education and Career Fairs (ECF) season presented us with a valuable opportunity to spread the word about at five different locations (Surrey, Kelowna, Abbotsford, Nanaimo, and Vancouver) in November and December. We always look forward to interacting with students, counsellors, parents, teachers, and others as we inform potential new site-users, and gather feedback from those with experience. We are encouraged that those who use this resource on a regular basis continue to report high levels of satisfaction with their user experience.

Meanwhile, BCCAT has contracted with PLAID Consulting to carry out an external review of the BC Transfer Guide to identify key areas for updating and enhancing of the website. Look out for the survey which is due to be launched in January 2019!
