Welcome back after the Easter holidays!  We hope you have all had a lovely break and enjoyed all the easter egg hunts and chocolates!  We have a fun packed Summer term ahead, please do mark down the dates for your diary and join in the fun!
The date for the Summer Fete is set for 11th May 12noon - 2pm and the planning for the event is in full swing.  Please make sure its in your diary - it will be too good to miss!

We still need volunteers on the day so please visit the sign up genius by clicking here and put your or your partners name down to help out - it’s lots of fun and a fantastic way to help us raise money.
Casino Night - Thank you so much for everyone who organised, helped out and came along and supported this event - we can now confirm the total raised from the event was £5,323!!  This is fantastic for the Pre-school, it really does all allow us to ensure we offer our children the very best! The money has been used to purchase a new shed to keep all of the outdoor toys in and help maintain the outdoor area through re-felting the shed roof and wood protection for all the external play equipment.

We'd like to say special thanks to the following:
- Our bar sponsor and auction prize donation from Phil at Seer Green Motors
- Bovingdon estate agents for the advertising boards erected throughout the village
- Catering and bar set up by the Jolly Cricketers

Forest School - This returns to us for its fourth year!  It's gained fantastic feedback and we have decided that this will stay as part out curriculum each year (funds dependent) for older groups in the Friday sessions.  This is an excellent opportunity which we are very happy to be able to share with our children. For more information on Forest School please visit  If you would like to donate to this initiative and have not done already (older children only), please click here to be directed to our PayPal site.

Mother's Day seeds - We hope that your Mother's Day seeds have started to sprout. The seedlings are a mixture of Zinnia and Nasutriums.
With increased awareness of the environment and our topic this term (Taking care of myself and my planet) we've become an Ellacycler!

The ‘Ellacycle’ scheme aims to help parents recycle baby food pouches, which are not collected for recycling by local authorities. The pouches contain aluminium sandwiched between two layers of plastic and so are more difficult to recycle than other forms of Ella’s Kitchen food packaging. Any pouches dropped off at an Ellacycle collection point will be returned to Terracycle. The company then either recycles them into items such as lunch boxes or shreds them and pelletises the material to make hard plastic products such as tiling.

As we've become an Ellacycler it which means that there is a box at Pre-School for you to pop any of the items shown in the below imagine in and in return for every 100 pouches we receive 2p - so it's great for the environment and us!
Parent Survey - Thank you again for your participation in the parent survey this year, it was lovely to hear all your views and also give us opportunity to improve areas you have highlighted.  The feedback was circulated before the Easter holidays however if you didn't get chance to read it please do feel free to access it here.
Rotary Club - We would like to say a big thank you to the Rotary club who have kindly donated half of their Christmas collections to Seer Green Pre-School. Many thanks to all of the Pre-School parents who volunteered to help Father Christmas make his way around Seer Green on his musical sleigh.
Requests to Parents
Sun Hats - With the warmer weather heading our way please can you make sure your child had a named sun hat with them at pre-school and that sun-cream is applied before they come to pre-school.  For children attending all day either apply the 8 hour protection sun cream or bring in a named bottle of sun-cream so that staff can apply it at lunchtime.  This will only apply on the days that your child comes in for a full day.
Any spare clothes? Our spare clothes stock is looking rather diminished, as summer approaches it brings with it increased water play so we can never have enough spare clothes.  If you have any old clothes, trousers, tops, skirts etc. that your child has grown out of we would greatly appreciate them.

It would also be a good idea to check the spare clothes on your child's peg to make sure the clothing is appropriate for the season and that the clothes still fit.
Bag2School - In mid May we will pop a Bag2School envelope in your post pocket.  Please can you fill with an old clothes etc over the half term break and then return to us on the 12th June.  Don't worry we will also send a reminder nearer the time.
Early Years Advisor
As part of our self-evaluation, staff have been carrying out room observations over the past term and a half. We have been concentrating on the home corner and the mud kitchen, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of these areas of our Pre-School. We have assessed things such as how engaged the children are in these areas, their cooperation with one another, the opportunities for children to be independent and the suitability of resources. We have then discussed our findings and identified potential improvements to practice and provision. Watch out for some changes in these areas, especially some new resources to enhance play and creativity!
