Welcome back after the half term and a special welcome to all our new little ones who have joined us recently.  Now the countdown to Christmas begins!
News

Operation Christmas Child - Thank you so much for all your support with our annual Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal: we have been able to fill a total of 6 boxes which is a fantastic effort.  We shall be told in due course which country our boxes have gone to and we shall be sure to let you and the children know.

It is very important to us to ensure that the children gain a broad perspective of the world, learning for example about how similar yet different homes, lifestyle, individuals and education near and far can be and making those connections.  We embrace questions from the children as they try and make sense of our world around them and to give them life experiences that also foster empathy and respect for others.

Operation Christmas Child is one of the ways in which we do this.  If you would like to know more about how we do this or ways in which you can be supporting this outlook at home please come and chat with us.

Christmas Cards & T-Towels - You will be receiving your childs artwork this week to order any cards, mugs and t-towels you would like.  Just a quick reminder to get your order forms and payment in for cards, mugs and t-towels by 15th November.  Please pop your form and payment in the white committee box next to the office door.

Parish Magazine - Watch out for our article in the November issue of the Parish Magazine, which shows some of the lovely new equipment the children have to play with.  If you do not currently subscribe to this village magazine and would like to have this delivered to your door for £8 a year, please contact editorseergreen@gmail.com  with your name, address and phone number and one of their distributors will contact you.
Requests to Parents

Winter Clothes - Its time for winter hats, gloves and scarfs - please can you remember to label them.  A handy tip for gloves: children find it easier to manipulate and handle objects if they are wearing the fingered gloves rather than mittens.  The children have access to the whole of the outside area all year round so we do recommend all in one wet weather gear too.  We do have a stock of wellies but feel free to bring in a labelled pair if you wish too.

Easyfundraising - With the time to get all your Christmas shopping underway its never been a better time to get yourself signed up for Easyfundraising on behalf of the Pre-School.  It really only takes a few minutes to sign up and then all your online shopping can help us raise funds for the Pre-School at no cost to you.
Early Years Advisor

The committee and staff are always looking for improvements we can make to our pre-school.  The priorities for improvements are summarised in our annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).  This year’s targets are as follows:

1.     Gain Smile Award Plus endorsement, establishing a whole setting approach to good oral health and its key messages.

2.    Continue to refurbish the pre-school and replace play equipment.  Establish a process of regularly auditing equipment and resources, in order to identify priorities for use of money raised by fundraising.

3.    Continue to enhance links between home and pre-school.  Encourage use of the lending library and identify other areas for development through staff attendance at “Home Learning Matters” training.
