Early Childhood Development Initiative (ECDI) is now Bright Beginnings

After much consideration from the Monterey County Children's Council, we are excited to announce our new name, Bright Beginnings. We believe Bright Beginnings better reflects the initiative's mission, to help the community as a whole to work together to ensure that young children, from the prenatal stage through age eight, have what they need to succeed.

Our new name is effective immediately, so you'll see it popping up in all of our new printed materials, online, and on social media.

We are looking forward to continuing to share, collaborate, and learn with our communities. To learn more about Bright Beginnings, visit our website here

Help us celebrate our new name by sharing your Bright Beginnings goals and activities with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Click here to sign up for our newsletter!

Bright Beginnings Is Now Supporting Six Communities!

Bright Beginnings is excited to partner with the community of Gonzales and support the early childhood development component of their existing cradle to career programs. In mid-April, this partnership allowed the city of Gonzales to bring the Hands-On Express to the Monterey County Free Library, providing activities to promote early literacy skills for young children. Bright Beginnings looks forward to providing further support, technical assistance, and capacity building activities to bolster community goals.

We recognize the value and challenges of cooperative action and through mutual engagement with interested groups, we hope to advance collaborative impact around our Monterey County community. We now support the communities of North Monterey County, Pajaro, Seaside, Salinas, Greenfield, and Gonzales.

Bright Beginnings is an opportunity for the community as a whole to work together to ensure that young children, from the prenatal stage through age 8, have what they need to succeed. The Children’s Council launched Bright Beginnings to develop a countywide strategic vision, roadmap, and action plan to help our youngest children, prenatal stage through age 8, reach their full potential in safe and nurturing families. Bright Beginnings invites all communities in Monterey County to actively engage in supporting early childhood development.
