Thank you to everyone who attended last month's Members' Forum. It was a packed house and we have received positive feedback from members about the programme. Some of the items I covered in my presentation are detailed below; I would especially like to draw members' attention to the proposed new partnership with ECTSA and SWTSA. We think this is an exciting development and one that will allow us to offer more to our members and provide greater value while maintaining our own identify as a teaching school.
Lots covered in this latest newsletter - thanks for reading!

Proposed partnership with ECTSA and SWTSA
At last month's Members' Forum I outlined a proposed partnership with two local teaching schools: Exeter Consortium and Teaching School Alliance (ECTSA) and South West Teaching School Alliance (SWTSA). The aim is for each teaching school to retain its own unique identify and at the same time draw on the collective benefit of sharing expertise, resources and opportunities.
DTSA has a strong tradition of working closely with other TSAs and we are keen to develop this further. The main benefits for DTSA member schools of these proposals are:
Significantly wider range of CPD courses available
New CPD portal will allow each school to manage its own bookings etc and have a complete record of its activity. This will include a mechanism that allows us to extend our system of credits by offering schools 'coupons' to get reductions off CPD courses.
DTSA will retain its own identify and approach to how it engages with its members: the web site, newsletters, Members' Forum etc will continue exactly as they always have
Sharing our resources means we can do more for schools with our funds and ensure we are always driving costs down for member schools
We can use our collective bargaining power to get the best deals with third party providers
SLE and other system leaders can be accessible across TSAs, meaning schools have access to a wider range of specialists
You can find our more about the proposed partnership HERE. Please let us know your views by emailing me (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Great opportunities for 2018-19
We are putting together the programme of CPD for next year and we are excited about the new opportunities we plan to deliver to members. This includes:
New programme of Safeguarding CPD delivered by Jane Lake (newly appointed Director of Safeguarding for Dartmoor MAT and formerly a member of the Babcock Safeguarding team). This will include Safer Recruitment Training, Level 3 and Level 3 Refresher Training as well as a network meeting.
New programme for Leading Pupil Premium (Primary and Secondary)
For secondary schools, we will be offering a suit of AQA 'Feedback on the Examinations' INSET days in November 2018 for the following GCSEs: English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science (combined), RE, Geography and MFL. If there is sufficient demand we will also be offering PE, Art / Design, Product Design and History.
In addition to these new programmes, we will again be offering Early Headship Programme, NQT Programme, OLEVI courses as well as a full programme of network meetings.
Podcast of the month
Podcasts are excellent ways of accessing interviews and presentations. Each month we will recommend a podcast on an educational theme that we think will be of interest to our newsletter readers.
Our first podcast is an interview with Dylan William by Craig Barton, exploring Dylan's latest book ''Creating the Schools our Children Need'. It is highly thought provoking and explores much of the latest research into effective teaching. To listen or download please click HERE
Primary iDASH now free to members
We are pleased to announce that the iDASH (formerly known as the Internal Dashboard) is now available to all DTSA members as part of their membership fees. Previously this had been available for £75.
The iDASH enables schools to have an internal IDSR and ASP. DTSA works with Mark Beeston (Data Specialist) to develop an Excel spreadsheet into which you can load in-year assessment data to produce replicas of the primary IDRS and ASP. Please see flyer HERE for more information.
We are very keen to have as many schools take up this offer. Not only does it enable schools to have a richer picture of their school's performance profile but it means we can provide meaningful analysis to schools before national data sets are published.
A technical workshop will be held to support schools leaders / administrators later in June (with the option of repeats in the Autumn) - date to be confirmed. This will be an after school event and interested parties will be to remotely access the meeting via googlemeet.
If you would like to order you iDASH at no charge please click HERE
