Dear <<First Name>>

Great to see colleagues at last Tuesday's Members' Forum. We discussed the format of the Members' Forum meeting and the general consensus was that the meetings were valuable and informative and represented an effective use of leaders' time. On occasions, where a topic merited in depth exploration, sessions could be longer; and varying the day of the week was recommend. If you have any feedback we would welcome you thoughts: please email me msmith@dartmoortsa.org.uk

I am working with Neil Swait - our Senior Associate for Inspection - to provide a series of half-day briefing on the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and Inspection Handbook on 8th May (details to follow soon) and a new Effectiveness Review Programme (recruiting Summer term). Our aim is to support schools so they can fully embrace the new EIF in September with confidence.

We are excited to be offering members a high quality conference for the first time! See details below. We would love all schools to join us on 13th June at Exeter Racecourse with colleagues from Exeter Consortium TSA and SWTSA.

Best wishes
Martin Smith | Director of Dartmoor TSA

NEW | Local Leaders of Governance | Now Recruiting

A new designation of Local Leader of Governance is now available.

The Teaching School Council South West (TSCSW) are developing a team of Local Leaders of Governance (LLGs) to work alongside the already established team of National Leaders of Governance (NLGs).

What do they do?

Local Leaders of Governance respond to the needs of individual chairs, schools and trust
boards, helping governors to help themselves.

They will undertake deployments into other schools, for example:
• Mentoring chairs and governors
• Chairing and/or being a member of an interim executive board (IEB)
• Joining a governing board of a school in need of support
• Mediating difficult relationships
• Providing a fresh pair of eyes: even the best practitioners can improve.
Deployments may be requested by LAs, Dioceses, RSC, heads, chairs, Teaching Schools

This is great opportunity to support the development of governance across the system. Please pass on to your governing boards and encourage talented governors to apply.
