In this issue:

Dear <<First Name>>

We had our first TSA Review last week and were delighted with the feedback from the reviewer - Dr Stewart Wilson. We hope to receive our report by the start of the Summer Term which we will share with member schools. Dartmoor TSA has also been selected by the TSC SW for research into innovative teaching schools, which is being undertaken by UCL. We were interviewed on Friday (29th March) and look forward to the publication later this year. Thanks to member schools who have kindly supported both the above.

By the end of this week we will learn more about the new plans for teaching schools beyond 2020. We understand they are looking to significantly reduce the number of TSAs to about 100 nationally, creating teaching school 'hubs' with greater funding, clearer roles in school improvement and stronger links with MATs. Dartmoor TSA has been planning for future changes through its partnership work with Teaching Schools South West, which we hope will provide a platform for the next phase of our development.

Best wishes
Martin Smith | Director of Dartmoor TSA

Are you looking for bespoke CPD for your school, trust or learning community?

Dartmoor TSA can provide a bespoke CPD service for individual schools, subjects, MATs / Federations or learning communities. If you would like to explore how we can support you with this service (which is included in membership fee) please get in touch with Martin Smith (msmith@dartmoortsa.org.uk).

Case study: this year we supported one federation that wanted to train all its teachers in Re-Think Reading strategies. DTSA brokering the training so that it could be delivered through twilights, sold places on to the programme to other schools, and enabled the federation to train all its teachers in a cost-neutral format.

Teaching Vacancies | New Free Way to Advertise Jobs

The DfE has launched a superb free job advertising service for schools. Each year schools spend £150 million of recruitment adverts which is clearly a huge waste of resources. The new Teaching Vacancies service is growing rapidly since its launch early this year. It is simple to register: email your full name and email address to teaching.vacancies@education.gov.uk (cc'ing in headteacher / ceo). You can visit the web site here: https://teaching-vacancies.service.gov.uk/

NEW Primary NQT Programme 2019-2020 | Free to Members

We are pleased to We are pleased to launch a new Primary NQT Programme for 2019-2020. This will be FREE to DTSA members.

The programme is offered through our partnership Teaching Schools South West (Exeter Consortium TSA and SWTSA) and is delivered by a Primary NQT Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) - Emma Slaven.  The programme has had excellent feedback in recent years so we are delighted to be able to offer this to DTSA NQTs.

Our aim has been to bring down charges where ever we can. In 2016 our first NQT programme was priced at £550, in 2017 £500 and in 2018 £400. Through building our membership base and working in partnership we other TSAs we are now in a position where we can absorb the cost of the programme (£3500) and deliver even better value for schools at a time when budget are feeling extreme pressures.
