DTSA secures £25,000 Aspiring Teaching School Grant

We are pleased to announce that DTSA has been awarded £25,000 to support Great Torrington School (GTS) to work towards Teaching School designation within the next 12-18 months. The Aspiring Teaching School Grant is a new initiate introduced in 2017 which enables Teaching Schools to apply for up to £25,000 to 'sponsor' a school so that it can meet Teaching School designation criteria. Our application was one of nine nationally that was successful during the first round.

GTS has an excellent record of innovation in professional development and evidence-based teaching. The funding will be used to enable GTS to build a team of system leaders, create a CPLD programme and develop an innovative Apprenticeship ITT programme. This is a great opportunity to build capacity within North Devon and Torridge to address some of the challenges faced by schools in these areas.
