Project Updates
Project SHE
With funds from the benefit concert and silent auction, a recent house party, and a gift from an Owatonna church, we have raised over 80% of the funds needed to complete the building addition at Let Africa Live.  Help finish this fundraising campaign!  Donate online, host a house party, direct holiday gifts to Project SHE -- THANK YOU!

Buy Conflict-Free
As you do holiday shopping this year, consider the source of materials in the electronics you purchase.  We can make a difference by buying from companies eliminating DRC conflict minerals from their supply chains. An easy-to-use company ranking graph can guide your consumer choices.

Health on Idjwi Island
With almost no healthcare services available, average life expectancy on South Idjwi is a mere 25 years.  Eighteen in every 1,000 women die in childbirth, and one in six infants die before age one, the highest infant mortality rate in the world.  Mwendo Congo continues our commit-ment to life and health for the people of Idjwi.

Try to Praise the Mutilated World

Malcolm Gimse, sculptor, poet and art history professor emeritus, shared the image of Mother Teresa Squeezing Life Into a Child at the September benefit performance.  He drew connections with Let Africa Live's life-giving, transformative work with vulnerable youth.  He also read his stirring poem Try to Praise the Mutilated World.
“Try to praise the mutilated world ... ”
wherever you meet it,
in all the places you walk
with those who suffer,
who cannot help themselves,
that they remain forever
in your wakefulness close at hand....
