Once again the future of the volunteering sector is in jeopardy. Last year, through a national advocacy campaign and your support, funding was extended to 30 June 2021, however beyond this date, it faces some uncertainty. The Federal Government are now conducting an external review which will look at the effectiveness, efficiency and value of Volunteer Support Services and its funding commitment. It is crucial that your voice is heard on this important matter and you can have your say by attending a workshop, participating in a survey or by emailing your comments.
This article about the need for cross-sector collaboration aligns directly to our ‘world first’ cross-partnership Volunteering Strategy for South Australia. It addresses the challenges in developing capacity to lead collaboratively and to effectively work across sectors, which I found very interesting and hope you will too.

Volunteer Management Review
Now more than ever, it is crucial that Volunteer Support Services aren’t impacted by Federal funding cuts through the Volunteer Management Program (VMP). There are over 50 organisations, like Volunteering SA&NT that deliver effective Volunteer Support Services, which help recruit, support and train volunteers, increasing volunteer participation.
