Epic's CEO urges patients to take a stand against easy sharing of medical information

The CEO of Epic Systems - whose junior engineers are snapped up by companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet - has urged customers of healthcare systems to take a stand against the U.S Department of Health and Human Services. The proposed rules will allow patients to directly access their health information. Judy Faulkner, CEO of Epic Systems, emailed U.S. CEOs and presidents of hospital systems urging them to sign a letter of disapproval. Meanwhile, patient groups have criticised medical record vendors, like Epic, for failing to support interoperability. We will be following this debate closely. Read more.
