PICK UP YOUR PSAT SCORE REPORT AND TEST BOOKLET!

Students who took the PSAT in October can pick up their score report and Test Booklet in their Alpha Center before school, at snack or lunch, or after school.  Bring your student ID with you. Reviewing your score report is a very helpful way to see what areas you need to brush up on before taking the SAT next year.

REFLECTIONS AWARDS PRESENTED AT VAPA NIGHT

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the PTSA's Reflections program.  The work from our Glendale High students was simply amazing this year.  Not only did FOUR of our talented students move on to compete at the First District PTA level of the competition, but TWO of those artists, Paul Malhortra (Visual Art, 2D - Special Artist) and Natalie Honarchian (Dance Choreography) were chosen to compete at the STATE level.  Their work will be featured at this year's California State PTA convention and both artists have a chance at moving on to compete at the national level.  Congratulations Paul & Natalie and thanks to all the teachers who encouraged their students to participate!

BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED FOR NEXT YEAR'S
GLENDALE HIGH PTSA EXECUTIVE BOARD

The GHS PTSA Nominating Committee is currently looking for parents, teachers or GHS staff members who are interested in serving on the GHS PTSA Executive Board for the 2017 - 18 school year.  The Executive Board meets once a month, typically on the second Monday at 6 pm. All Executive Board members are expected to attend the monthly meetings.

The following positions are currently available:

1st Vice President - Programs -This person oversees all PTA programs (Red Ribbon Week, Reflections, Founder's Day, etc) and interfaces with the Chairpersons for each program to help ensure the program's success.  If all programs have a chairperson, the 1st VP acts as a liaison, reporting on the program at monthly Board Meetings if the chairperson is not in attendance.

3rd VP Ways and Means - This person works closely with the Concessions Chair to ensure we have enough volunteer help in the concessions booths during football season (usually 5-6 home games a season).  In addition to using Sign Up Genius, Facebook and personal email pleas to solicit volunteer help, this job may also require helping with shopping trips (to Smart and Final) on occasion, as well as helping to get the concessions booths up and running during home games.

Historian - The Historian captures, assembles and preserves a record of PTA activities.  The primary task is to collect volunteer hours from those who attend PTA meetings, work the concessions booth and volunteer at other school events. Hours are submitted to Glendale Council several times over the school year and a report is submitted to Council at the end of the year. In addition, this person also compiles a memory book for the President, with photos from various PTA activities and presents it at the last meeting of the year.

The following committee chairperson positions are open  Chair people do not need to attend all monthly meetings, but may be asked to attend meetings close to the event for which they are chairing.

Reflections Chair - this person oversees the PTA Reflections Arts program. The chair will interface with teachers and ask for assistance in encouraging student participation.  They will oversee the program from when it launches and through its completion and awards ceremony. (Time commitment is roughly August - January)

If you interested in taking on any of these positions, please email Linda Guzik at lindagpta@gmail.com
