Lori Gottlieb is a New York Times bestselling author and psychotherapist who writes the new weekly New York magazine column What Your Therapist Really Thinks. Instead of just giving advice, she takes you behind-the-scenes and shows you what a therapist might be thinking—but perhaps not saying aloud—if presented with readers' dilemmas. She also writes for the New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic on topics ranging from married sex (not an oxymoron, she insists) to crazy parents (like, at times, herself, she says). If you twist her arm, she'll admit that she was the only girl on her high school's championship math team, but she'll never show you what her hair looked like back then. Got a question you want her to answer? Write her at therapist@nymag.com.
Some things Lori loves:
ART/DECOR
"Max Wanger's photos range from stunning to playful, and if I could buy one for every room in my home, I would. And Local Lejos is my go-to for gorgeous textiles and accessories."

PODCAST
"As a therapist, I'm thrilled that Esther Perel's new podcast Where Should We Begin lets listeners listen in on actual couple counseling sessions. Each episode is a voyeuristic education on how to be in a relationship."
MIND
"I say I do Luminosity's brain games to keep me from getting dementia, but actually they're my secret addiction and main method of procrastination. Instead of training my brain to focus, they may be giving me a bad case of ADHD. Still, super fun!"

GETAWAY (BIG SUR)
"At Big Sur's Post Ranch Inn, you get to sleep in a luxury tree house perched just above the ocean. That's right—a TREE HOUSE. There should be a photo of this place next to the word 'romantic' in the dictionary."

FOUNDER'S FIND (sponsored): BUBBLY
For some reason, sparkling wine feels more daunting to buy than other wines. Usually I'm in and out of the shop but with bubbly I always end up languishing at the cooler, unsure of what to pick. The goal is a go-to bottle that's affordable and delightful and you know will make a solid addition to a summer party. Is that too much to ask? No, it is not, and Gruet fits that bill. I'm on a sparkling rosé kick so right now I'm especially enjoying their Brut Rosé. Pretty, right? Cheers! —Marina
