Sophie Kinsella is the author of the wildly popular Shopaholic series and the new novel My Not So Perfect Life, out this week (it's part love story, part workplace comedy, part witty critique on our social media-obsessed culture.) Sophie lives in England with her family, where she hangs upside down regularly: “I have an inverting machine that turns you upside down and you just hang there. It’s supposed to be great for your circulation, your back and basically everything! It’s weird at first but you get into it,” she says. OK, now I want to hang upside down too. Who's with me?

Some things Sophie loves:
"Claudia Bradby. This jewelry brand specializes in pearls and the designs are simple, elegant and wearable. I’ll wear a single pearl pendant when I want to feel understated and chic."
"Shu Uemura cleansing oil. I use this religiously. I’ve tried other brands, but none of the others dissolves make-up in such a soft, nourishing way. My skin feels amazing when I’ve used it—clean and moisturized."
"Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. I recommend this book to everyone. It’s part poetry, part novel, you read it in one sitting and have a tear in your eye by the end. It’s supposed to be for children but really anyone can (and should) read it."
"The Luggage Room is a fabulous art deco cocktail bar in Mayfair, London. The cocktails are wonderful, the glassware is distinctive, the bartenders carve ice off a huge block for each drink, and they’re incredibly friendly, too."

I'm trying to ween myself off sugar, and it's not working out so well, in part because I'm dangerously obsessed with these apple hard candies. They come in other flavors too—the cherry and pomegranate are good—but I'm especially into these apple ones because they don't have that fake apple flavor that you normally get with candy. They taste like an actual crisp, tart apple. But, you know, in candy form. Now please get them away from me.  Marina
