Green Burial

Thursday the 6th of October saw Wilkies Wood Green Burial site as the location for the celebration and burial of Findhorn Village resident and NFA member Sky Cummings.  Sky was a sparky and outspoken member of the local community who brought friends and family together as she fought cancer over the previous months.  Will Russell, the Findhorn Hinterland Trust Funeral Coordinator, was also the interfaith celebrant on this occasion handling this delicate time with his characteristic sensitivity and warmth.  This brings the total number of burials at the site to nineteen with a further fifty-one pre-paid lairs having been purchased.  If you don't know what the Trust offers in terms of its unique green burial resource or haven't seen Will's inspiring drone aerial view of the site, you might like to explore here to find out more.

The CWA Conference, Forres - A Great Success!

Five members of the Findhorn Hinterland Trust were involved in this important annual networking event which was held on our doorstep this year.  It was a great opportunity to share the work of the FHT with the delegates and learn and be inspired by other groups spread through-out Scotland and beyond.  George Paul, one of our members, took the time to tell a bit more about this event and some of the goings on can be seen on the photo page.  One of the important connections that was made was with the Scottish Forestry School at Balloch, Inverness which is part of the University of the Highlands and Islands.  They wish to visit our site in the spring as an example of community involvement in forestry.
Derek Simpson has been doing a great job volunteering to paint up our Wee Grey Fergie tractor.
Great job and thank you Derek!
A colourful send-off for Sky.

Green Burial Area Tidy Up  / Saturday 29th October - 9.30am-12 noon.

Our green burial site has been integrated into the thirty acres of Wilkies Wood after a devastating storm in 2005 resulted in the whole compartment having to be felled.  It is developing into an area valued and used by many. This and the nearby Memorial Wood are in need of a little TLC so do come and join us in making these even more enchanting and beautiful places that people want to spend time in.
