A picture is worth a thousand words. Whether you are a visual learner, an audio learner or an instant learner, education-based exhibitions enhance everyone's experience in the classroom. All exhibitions at SFSNAD are funded through grants and donations - allowing us to showcase emerging, experimental, international, and student work year-round.
SFSNAD is proud to have two gallery spaces to exhibit artwork – the Hanging Thread Gallery and the Corridor Gallery. The Corridor Gallery features community-based exhibitions such as our Stitch at Home Challenge which brings needlework artists from all over the world to explore single topics. These exhibitions keep us connected and amplify our understanding of the global stitching community. To date, we have hosted 15 Challenges with 881 participants, representing 40 states plus Washington DC, and 26 countries. Exhibitions in the Hanging Thread Gallery take a deeper dive into individual artist themes, techniques and process. All exhibits provide educational opportunities for visitors and are free to the public.
Your $100 donation will help us to bring SFSNAD unique exhibitions that supplement our Courses, Classes and Workshops – and that create a vibrant ecosystem for artists from around the world to showcase work, engage in lively discussions and to share new concepts.
All artwork has a story, some of it narrative, some of it practical. The SFSNAD story is the same. The lyrical, narrative part is what you encounter when you visit and take a class, see an exhibit or listen to a webinar. It is the story you learn from our books and our collection pieces. The practical part is behind the scenes where we balance bank accounts, run excel spreadsheets and pay bills. It is also the part where we raise money to help pay for all those beautiful and lyrical things we all love about SFSNAD.
