CBA34 is almost over, but not without Week 4! 


We've had a great slate of events, and with still more to come! Whether we've seen you throughout the month of July, or you haven't made it to the gallery yet, now is your chance!

With no further ado, here are the final CBA34 events:
THE WELLNESS WORKSHOPS

Monday, July 23rd, 6 - 8pm: the Art of Natural Haircare and Design and Makeup, featuring Syreeta Scott and Shanelle Squire

Tuesday, July 24th, 6 - 8pm: Vision Boarding, featuring Lisa Gore

Come improve your poetry and storytelling skills with incredible, internationally known black artists!

Series Dates:

Wednesday, July 25th, 6-8pm: Writing Workshop for budding and established poets, led by 2011 Birmingham, UK Poet Laureate, Roy McFarlane!

Thursday, July 26th, 5-7pm: A night of storytelling from within, including a storytelling workshop given by a renowned storyteller, Jos Duncan, as well as a poetry workshop and signing from 2011 Birmingham, UK Poet Laureate, Roy McFarlane.

HBCU NIGHT @ AAMP 
FRIDAY, JULY 27TH @ 3-9PM 
AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM IN PHILADELPHIA (701 ARCH ST)

Join us at the African American Museum in Philadelphia for a Friday night celebrating our Historically Black Colleges and Universities! 

Events will include: Film Screenings, Panel Discussions, and feature films by Stanley Nelson and various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

BIRTHDAY & FESTIVAL BLOCK PARTY
SATURDAY, JULY 28TH @ 6PM
ART SANCTUARY GALLERY (628 S 16TH ST)

In and outside of the Art Sanctuary Gallery: Festival Block Party! Celebrate Black Art, Art Sanctuary's 20th Birthday AND the dedication of the murals that will grace our headquarters!

Featuring performances from some of Philly’s most electric acts, food, vending, art, dancing, HBCU Strolls – it all comes together with a bang!

The mural dedication is in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia, featuring the work of Ernel Martinez and hosted by Radio One's (100.3 FM) Dyana Williams!

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I SEE? 
NOW THROUGH JULY 31ST
ART SANCTUARY GALLERY (628 S 16TH ST)

The centerpiece of the 34th Celebration of Black Arts Festival is the month-long exhibition "Do You Hear What I See?", featuring rarely seen photographs of black music icons from by photographer Ron St. Clair.

The showcase will include several candid photos of some of the most influential musicians in the 20th century, including Berry Gordon, Duke Ellington, Harry Belafonte, Patti LaBelle, just to name a few; and each piece will be available to purchase throughout the duration of the exhibition.
