Participants will grow personally and professionally, have leadership experiences, and make important connections within Philadelphia that will help them in their future careers. We are looking for participants who are responsible, thoughtful, self-starters, and enjoy meeting and working with new people.

Endless Arts in Eagles Mere - Make Art in the Mountains!
Application Deadline: August 15, 2018
Amy Butcher, award-winning essayist and author of the acclaimed memoir Visiting Hours, will be joining six other artist/instructors September 20-23 for Endless Arts in Eagles Mere — a weekend of immersion in art and nature.
In her essay Flight Behavior, Amy writes “It seems to
me a matter of perspective: the way we choose to think about a life, landscape, loved one, or circumstance.” Amy will bring this notion of perspective into a three-day workshop that combines the study and discussion of contemporary narrative with exercises designed to target the elements of strong, memorable literary essay writing.

Other workshops in drawing, mosaic,
book making, listening to jazz, story telling and paper clay sculpture will be taught by accomplished faculty.

Endless Arts enthusiastically welcomes all individuals, from professionals to novices, who want to improve their skills while enjoying a weekend getaway in the mountains of Pennsylvania.

We believe that nothing should limit the scope of one’s creativity. Scholarships are available by application through August 15th.

Note: Even if you don't receive a scholarship, Endless Arts has generously offered a $25 discount for various workshops to the Art Sanctuary community.

Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts'

Jazz Residency Program

Application Deadline: August 13, 2018
The Kimmel Center is proud to announce that the application for its 6th annual jazz residency program is now available for all artists who want to write new music.

The Kimmel Center Jazz Residency program is designed to take artists and audiences on a season-long journey to continue the long tradition of creating new jazz in Philadelphia.

Fostering collaborations between musicians and artists of different disciplines, the program helps musicians reach students, young adults, and newcomers to the jazz form, creating relevant jazz experiences for today.

Through a series of performances and workshops, a dialogue is created between musician and listener, providing an opportunity for their multiple voices to be part of the journey.

Structured in four phases, the Jazz Residency program includes: the Residency Kick-Off, the public workshop, the work-in-progress, and the world premiere.

  • The Residency Kick-Off features music of the artist’s catalog to date, giving the audience a chance to hear the artist’s sound.
  • The public workshop is the audience’s first introduction to the artist’s project, showcasing the very first musical concepts and excerpts.
  • The work-in-progress features the project in a more developed state, allowing the audience to witness progress and change.
  • The final project is revealed in the world premiere.

The deadline to apply is August 13, 2018.
