PASTOR'S NOTE:
Dear Church,
Lent is a complicated time in the life of the church. On Ash Wednesday we are reminded of our own mortality, and then each subsequent week we are reminded of the impending execution of Jesus. It's a lot.
However, there is also a subversive hope: the hope that comes from knowing the end of the story. Christ rose from death, and by doing so, he declared that neither the corruption of earthy empire or sin had any power in the presence of God.
So, as you see the simplicity of our Lenten services, as you hear the familiar stories, as you receive the ashes and the washing of feet, remember that it is by the love of the God of eternal mercy, that you are blessed.
Blessed in your imperfection, your frailty, your doubt.

So, come. You are beloved, and you are not alone.
Pastor Denise

HYGIENE ITEM DRIVE FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

Please remember to pick up items for personal hygiene for persons who really need them when you go to the store. Things like soap, lotion, toothpaste, diapers, disposable face masks, etc., can make a real difference in the lives of people who can’t afford them. McCaffrey’s gift cards also are welcome and would enable people to choose items that they need themselves. There are 200 families in the Princeton area who are served by the Princeton Mobile Food Pantry. Our collection is in the foyer of the church. Donations are being received through March 14th. Thank you for your generosity!
If you would be willing to help with taking the donations to the Pantry collection point, please contact Sally, Carol, or Pastor Denise.

Thanks,
Carol McCollough

Council Meeting Report

Church Council had an excellent meeting monthly on February 13. We were delighted to welcome Istvan Suto and Tom Seat as new Council members, as Carol McCollough and Rev. Jacqueline Rotteveel had rotated off after the January meeting.

We discussed follow-up on the Stewardship Drive. Ann Gartner has compiled the offerings of time and talent, and follow up is planned with those who volunteered. We also made plans to send thank you notes to those who made financial pledges (keeping the amounts confidential) after worship on February 26, between the end of worship and Bible Study. Those who are able are encouraged to help.

We reviewed the January 29 congregational meeting and agreed it went very well. Special thanks to Chris Phelan for overseeing preparation and distribution of the many documents that were reviewed at the meeting. Ann Gartner and Carol McCollough are working on an updated membership list to share. It will be based on our Breeze software, so updates will automatically be done on a version that can be accessed with a password online.

Council was also pleased to receive treasurer Beth Rowley's report for the first month of 2023 that showed an increase of over $12,000 in our investments, and more than 1/12 of budgeted revenues received.

Book Group
Hi, folks.

On Charles McCollough's suggestion, we have decided to read and discuss New York Times' best selling author Temple Grandin's book Visual Thinking: The Hidden Gifts of People Who Think In Pictures, Patterns, and Abstractions.

We will meet by Zoom on Saturday, February 25th, at 7:00PM.

Charles is eager to share what is, for him, a very personal insight, and we hope that many of you will be able to join us.

Sala Fellowship Night:
Visualizing the Parables: A Multimedia Presentation

Thursday, March 9th, 7:30-9:00 pm
Hosted by Charles McCullough
Join our host, Charles McCullough, for a journey into the art of sculpture.  The presentation will utilize Charles’ sculptures based upon the parables accompanied by the music from “The Mission” by E. Mariconi.  This beautiful and moving experience will be presented in the fireplace room.  Sit back, relax, and take in this amazing artwork!

Sala is a monthly fellowship which is hosted by a member who shares their “knowing” with the group or coordinates an event for a most special evening. Refreshments are served followed by a guided meditation and then an activity or presentation/group discussion chosen by the host. Sala is an all inclusive, safe, sober, and beautiful space to feed one’s soul!
