Please remember to pick up items for personal hygiene for persons who really need them when you go to the store. Things like soap, lotion, toothpaste, diapers, disposable face masks, etc. can make a real difference in the lives of people who can’t afford them. McCaffrey’s gift cards also are welcome and would enable people to choose items that they need themselves. There are 200 families in the Princeton area who are served by the Princeton Mobile Food Pantry. Our collection is in the foyer of the church. The drop-off date is March 14th. Thank you for your generosity!

If you would be willing to help with taking the donations to the Pantry collection point, please contact Sally, Carol or Pastor Denise.

Council Meeting Report

Church Council had an excellent meeting monthly on February 13. We were delighted to welcome Istvan Suto and Tom Seat as new Council members, as Carol McCollough and Rev. Jacqueline Rotteveel had rotated off after the January meeting.

We discussed follow-up on the Stewardship Drive. Ann Gartner has compiled the offerings of time and talent, and follow up is planned with those who volunteered. We also made plans to send thank you notes to those who made financial pledges (keeping the amounts confidential) after worship on February 26, between the end of worship and Bible Study. Those who are able are encouraged to help.

We reviewed the January 29 congregational meeting and agreed it went very well. Special thanks to Chris Phelan for overseeing preparation and distribution of the many documents that were reviewed at the meeting. Ann Gartner and Carol McCollough are working on an updated membership list to share. It will be based on our Breeze software, so updates will automatically be done on a version that can be accessed with a password online.

Council was also pleased to receive treasurer Beth Rowley's report for the first month of 2023 that showed an increase of over $12,000 in our investments, and more than 1/12 of budgeted revenues received.

Ash Wednesday

Please join us for a quiet, meditative Ash Wednesday service Wednesday, February 22 at 5pm.

Marked by Ashes

by Walter Brueggemann

Ruler of the Night, Guarantor of the day . . .
This day — a gift from you.
This day — like none other you have ever given, or we have ever received.
This Wednesday dazzles us with gift and newness and possibility.
This Wednesday burdens us with the tasks of the day, for we are already halfway home
halfway back to committees and memos,
halfway back to calls and appointments,
halfway on to next Sunday,
halfway back, half frazzled, half expectant,
half turned toward you, half rather not...

Please join us for DVD night Friday, February 24th
7:00 p.m. in the “comfy couch” room
We will be veiwing Life is Beautiful
This is a story about how the power of love and humor
can be used even under horrific circumstances.
Refreshments served and discussion afterwards.
Our Bible study meets following the 10 AM services
(2nd, 4th, & 5th Sundays)

Bible Study will begin about 10-15 minutes after the end of worship and will conclude by 12:15. It is discussion-oriented, and we welcome the input and insights of all participants.

Our discussion is based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the Sunday following the one we meet for the Bible Study.
We will next meet on Feb 26.

Peace, Bob
More SALA Nights are Coming!!!
We will be presenting an update in the next few weeks.

***Sala is a monthly fellowship which is hosted by a member who shares their “knowing” with the group or coordinates an event for a most special evening. Refreshments are served followed by a guided meditation and then an activity or presentation/group discussion chosen by the host. Sala is an all inclusive, safe, sober, and beautiful space to feed one’s soul!
Book Group
Hi, folks.

On Charles McCollough's suggestion, we have decided to read and discuss New York Times' best selling author Temple Grandin's book Visual Thinking: The Hidden Gifts of People Who Think In Pictures, Patterns, and Abstractions.

We will meet by Zoom on Saturday, February 25th, at 7:00PM.

Charles is eager to share what is, for him, a very personal insight, and we hope that many of you will be able to join us.
