Pastor's Note:

Dear Christ Congregation

I will be out for the rest of January due to a non-emergency medical procedure I will be undergoing this month. My time away means that you will be blessed with a collection of guest pastors for the next few weeks.

If you need immediate pastoral care, our church is blessed with many ordained pastors:
Bob Moore, Ted Hardgrove, Craig Peterson, and Amy Seat.
For administrative help, please reach out to Alberto Lisboa, Sally Zarnstorff, or Ann Gartner.

You are also more than welcome to email me, with the understanding that I may be a little slow to answer. You will all be in my heart and prayers, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Pastor Denise

Welcome to the Pulpit this Sunday
Rev. Robert Moore
Our Bible study meets following the 10 AM services (2nd, 4th, & 5th Sundays).
Bible Study will begin about 10-15 minutes after the end of worship and will conclude by 12:15. It is discussion-oriented, and we welcome the input and insights of all participants.

Our discussion is based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the Sunday following the one we meet for the Bible Study.

Matthew 5:1-12

1 Corinthians 1:18-31
Micah 6:1-8
Psalm 15

We will next meet on Jan 22nd.

Peace, Bob
   DVD Night Friday, January 27th, 7:00 p.m.
Come join us for the next DVD Night at the church in the “Comfy Couch” room.
We will view the movie A Man Called Ove.
Refreshments served, of course!
– Nancy McCollough

Join us on Thursday, February 2nd, 7:30-9:00 pm for Sala Fellowship Night, “Will you be Thine?- An Exploration of Agape Love.”  This engaging evening will be hosted by our favorite valentine, Reverend Robert Moore.

***Sala is a monthly fellowship which is hosted by a member who shares their “knowing” with the group or coordinates an event for a most special evening. Refreshments are served followed by a guided meditation and then an activity or presentation/group discussion chosen by the host. Sala is an all inclusive, safe, sober, and beautiful space to feed one’s soul!
And the crowds asked [John], “What, then, should we do?”
In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.”
Luke 3:10-11
Thank you, beloved, for your generosity over the past few weeks.
Christ Congregation donated more than 20 coats and $621.00 (from our special Christmas offering) to our friends at Interfaith-Rise this season!
Interfaith-Rise received more than 50 coats from folks across our region!
Our efforts are multiplied when we work together toward the greater good.
Book Group
Hi folks,

Our next book group discussion will be on Saturday, January 28th, at 7:00PM by Zoom. We will discuss Isabel Wilkerson's 2010 National Bestseller, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration.

It is appropriate timing since February is Black History Month, and Ms Wilkerson provides us with a compelling story of the migration of Black Americans from the American South to cities in the North and West. As part of the great scope of this monumental work she features personal stories of three individuals in particular, with differing experiences but with much in common, and provides insight into problems that still exist to this day. It is truly a compelling read and one that is sure to engage you if you have not already read it. The book is over 500 pages long, but the author is such a great story teller that it reads faster than you might expect.

All are welcome. We hope you can join us for our discussion.

Joe and Carol Sundeen

Hope to see you there.
