Community Board 2 SoHo/NoHo Public Hearing Now In Person: Wednesday at 6:30 pm, Press Conference at 6 pm
This critical public hearing — the first in the official public review and approval process for the Mayor’s massive proposed SoHo/NoHo upzoning — has now been scheduled as an in-person hearing on Wednesday, June 23rd at 6:30 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 155 Sullivan Street (just south of Houston Street). We and allied community and tenant groups opposing the plan will hold a press conference in front of the church at 6 pm, and we encourage you to join us.It’s critical that we have a huge turnout to show city officials the strength and breadth of the opposition.
The proposed rezoning will not only destroy SoHo and NoHo; the City has made clear that if able to implement it here, they will make it a template for other upzonings in similar historic neighborhoods.
Primary Election Day is Tomorrow — Check Our Election 2021 Page
Tomorrow is Primary Day in New York City, when many key offices for city government, such as Mayor, Borough President, and City Councilmembers, will likely be decided.
Village Preservation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, can’t endorse candidates. But we can provide you with valuable information about their positions and records as it relates to issues that matter. We’ve assembled videos of our City Council candidate forums, City Council candidate questionnaires, and critical statements made by Mayoral, Borough President, and City Council candidates on defining issues like the proposed SoHo/NoHo rezoning.
Watch the Video: Village Preservation 2021 Annual Meeting and Village Awards
We had a truly heartwarming 41st Annual Meeting and 31st Annual Village Awards last Wednesday, where we looked back upon a year of accomplishment, and celebrated seven inspiring awardees whose work has helped make Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo the wonderful places they are.
If you missed the event, or want to watch it again (minus minor technical Zoom glitches from that night!), the video is now available on our website and YouTube page.
We’re looking forward to (hopefully) doing this again next year in person!
