Exciting News!

Sprout Momma found a home on Hilton Head Island

After years of renting the kitchen from Piggly Wiggly in Coligny, we're happy to announce that Sprout Momma has a new home on Hilton Head. Our new address will soon be 21 Cardinal Road, Suite 105 — located off Beach City Road on the way to the Hilton Head Airport. Over the next month, we'll be waiting on permits, knocking down walls, installing equipment and generally making the place pretty for everyone.

Sprout Momma will stay small for awhile — mainly as a bakery for our famers markets and wholesale customers. However, we will add a new component to Sprout Momma — grab-and-go lunches for those with limited time and made-to-order breads and pastries. Yes, you read that right! We're making eclairs and cinnamon buns for those with an insatiable sweet tooth.

As our new place progresses, we'll keep you updated on social media! Thank you to all of our loyal customers, fans, friends and family who have spread the word!

HEALTH TIP: Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar has become the go-to health trend. Reader's Digest claims it can cure hiccups and alleviate cold symptoms. Some people have turned to Apple Cider Vinegar to help with health concerns — such as diabetes, cancer, heart problems, high cholesterol and weight issues. Below, you'll find some recipes that use Apple Cider Vinegar. Click here for more information about its health benefits.

Recipe: All About Salads

Here are three fresh and easy dressings to use on your greens:

Judging by the weather, spring has already arrived. As local farms fill up with fresh greens, it's a great time to think about salads. Don't groan. Seriously, stop groaning! Salads are a great way to clean out our bodies of all the past indulgences of winter and holidays. And they can actually taste good, too!

Roasted Carrot and Cumin:
(Farm Fresh with a Hint of Spice)

Ingredients:
  • 3 medium carrots
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (if you like heat add a few..just a few…red pepper flakes)
  • pinch od salt
  • 1/3 cup Braggs apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon orange juice ( I like to add the zest of the orange as well)
  • 2 more tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Chop up carrots into chunks about 1/4 inch.
  • Toss them with oil, cumin and salt.
  • Roast them until tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Let them cool.
  • Add to processer with the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. If it's too thick, add a smudge of water or vinegar — however your feeling, it's you creation!

Sprout Momma Vinaigrette:

Ingredients:
  • 2 Tablespoons Shallots or Sweet Onion, chopped super fine
  • 1/2 Clove Garlic, chopped super fine (raw garlic is really strong — so, be careful)
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Quick Squeeze of Local Honey (to help fight off bad allergies)
  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Directions:

  • Put all of the Ingredients in a Ball Jar or another container with a tight lid
  • Shake the Heck Out of It!
  • Store in the Refrigerator

You can also add any fresh herbs from your garden — you have a garden don’t you?

Sprout Momma Caesar:
Ingredients:
  • 1 Package Silken Tofu
  • Dash of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 or 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (I use zest as well)
  • 1/4 Cup Nutritional Yeast (gives a cheesy taste and high in B vitamins, folate, selenium, zinc and protein! Yahoo!)
  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil (you might need a bit more for proper emulsifying)

Directions:

  • Put All of the Ingredients together in a Food Processor or Blender, except the olive oil
  • Blend
  • Slowly add the Olive Oil to emulsify
  • Store in refrigerator
