As the daffodils bloom, the cherry trees can't wait to bloom and shout, "look at me!" We turn our attention to mulching as our primary focus in this month's landscape.
Mulching is essential as it aids in moisture retention and weed growth. As a bonus, it just looks beautiful! Be careful when choosing the mulch you apply, as its benefits will be lessened when using the incorrect mulch. See our video for information about selecting the correct mulch here. We have four videos in this month's newsletter, and it will take up to 15 seconds for the video to load.
The correct preparation before applying the mulch is crucial for keeping your landscape healthy, plants performing to their fullest, and everything looking its best. See me and hear about mulching and the preparation completed here at Churchill Gardens. We have two short mulching videos to watch by clicking here and here.
While out enjoying the gardens at this beautiful time of year, keep the health of our pollinators in mind when choosing services for your lawn and landscape. Our pollinators are essential to our landscape and need to be thought of and protected. Think of them when purchasing if you decide to add new plants to your gardens this season. Many plants will attract pollinators to your gardens (they are so beautiful to watch), and you will benefit from them. It's a win-win!
The health of our pollinators is so important to me as I am not only in the horticultural industry, but I am also a beekeeper. See a unique glimpse of the inside of a beehive as I show you and explain a bit about our beautiful honeybees! Click here to see our fantastic honeybee video.
I can't think of a better reason to love the month of May than Mother's Day! It is such a special day to celebrate all the moms and show them how much we care about them. Last year on Mother's Day, I received an extraordinary gift. Oh, I've received unique gifts every year, flowers, jewelry (I have especially loved the handmade macaroni necklaces!), a newly planted seed in a Dixie cup off the windowsill of a kindergarten classroom, the gift of a beautiful day spent together, brunch ... but last year I received a tree planted in our yard, and I was so excited! It is a lovely butterfly magnolia, and I think it will most likely bloom here in The Berkshires right around Mother's Day. I am waiting patiently to see it. I will post pictures!
Remember your Mom in what way is most special to you. After all, I can attest that those macaroni necklaces last more than 30 years! Enjoy!
