Organizing Meeting! Tuesday August 30, 7pm
at the Greenwood Library
This will be a park soon- with your help!
You're getting this email because you've added your name to a Greenwood Community Council mailing list for people interested in the new park that will be built just north of the library where the Quick Stop and Bleachers used to be. Those buildings will be torn down this fall, and the design process for the new park will begin in earnest.
Be a "Friend of the Park"
Next Tuesday evening August 30 at 7pm there is an organizing meeting at the library for a new group that will help engage neighbors in designing the park, advise the park's designers, assist in finding funds to complete the construction, and serve as stewards for the park once built.
Please come with your ideas and enthusiasm! There is a lot to be done right away. Nothing is settled about the design, and even the park's name has yet to be decided. Seattle Parks conducted their first outreach at the Greenwood Car Show, and will have their second in early October - click here to see Seattle Parks' website on the new park and what they've heard from the community to date. The first phase of construction is planned to be complete within a year, so time is short.
What would you like the new park to be like?
Here are some examples from other new small parks
12th Ave Square Park
Swedish/UW Open Space
Broadway Hill Park
This meeting is sponsored by the Greenwood Community Council, but once established, the "Friends of" group will have its own leadership and set its own direction. Please consider volunteering to help organize the new group and make it a reality
